There’s a new tension emerging in surface design — between what a material is and what it appears to be. Between solid and transparent. Between opaque and luminous.
We call it Blurred Matter.
Blurred Matter explores the boundary between opaque and transparent, transforming natural materials through veils, diffusion and translucency. Textures lose definition and gain depth, creating shifting surfaces where matter, light and finish merge together.
Stone, wood, concrete and sand become softened and partially concealed, as if seen through a translucent veil. Diffuse backgrounds and glossy details create different levels of depth, transforming familiar materials into more abstract and sensory surfaces.
Water, steam, mist and condensation inspire surfaces with blurred boundaries and shifting appearances. Gradients, halos and diffused areas contrast with reflections and glossy details, capturing the ephemeral traces that fluid elements leave on matter.
At Walter Pack, Blurred Matter is more than a trend to observe — it’s a direction we can apply. From automotive interiors to home appliances and smart interfaces, we design and produce the surfaces that make this language real.
Blurred Matter — Between solid and transparent

Veiled Matter — Matter behind the veil
Stone, wood, concrete and sand become softened and partially concealed, as if seen through a translucent veil. Diffuse backgrounds and glossy details create different levels of depth, transforming familiar materials into more abstract and sensory surfaces.
Fluid Traces — Traces of the invisible
